How do we manage our sheep ?

Our EasyRam Flock is run commercially to mirror systems used by clients.

LAMBING:

The majority of our ewes and all ewe lambs are lambing outside on grass during April and a small proportion lamb inside in early March

GRASS/FORAGE:

We run a grass based system with no supplementary feed ever offered to rams. We are beginning to us rotational grazing, making extensive use of clover/ryegrass leys . Ram lambs and ewe lambs are overwintered on either deferred grazing or stubble turnips.

EWE FEEDING:

All April lambers – including ewe lambs - are wintered on deferred grazing and then stubble turnips or swedes before lambing on grass. March lambers are brought inside 3 weeks prior to lambing where they are fed silage and concentrates till lambing when they go out to grass with no further concentrates.

HEALTH:

Our High Health Status is very important to us.

MAEDI VISNA:

All sheep on our farm are MV accredited

CLA:

Our sheep are totally clear of this disease

SCRAPIE:

We are totally free of this disease and most sheep are Group 1 resistant

VACCINES

All sheep are vaccinated with Heptavac P and Scabivax and ewes also have Toxovax when they enter the flock.
