Mules
Our biggest market. EasyRam NZ Suffolk rams have become firm favourites with owners of NCMs and Welsh Mules, who retain daughters for their own use thus minimising replacement costs or sell on at a handy premium.

These daughters have excellent bodies, clean female heads and the resulting x bred daughters only show a 5% drop in lambing %. They are also very maternal even when lambing as ewe lambs.
Welsh
The ease of lambing and general hardiness of the EasyRam NZ Suffolk X Welsh ewe compares very favourably with the pure Welsh ewe. The EasyRam NZ Suffolk X Welsh ewe of every type from North Wales to the larger improved Welsh ewes in the south and including Speckles and Beulahs will all thrive on easy and hard hills throughout Wales. The NZ EasyRam Maternal Suffolk allows Welsh sheep farmers to reproduce what was a great cross ewe 50 years ago before the advent of the modern heavy and dopey Suffolk.
Lleyns
The EasyRam NZ Suffolk X lleyn is a great ewe with either the same or better prolificacy of a pure Lleyn. Easy Lambed milky ewes with great mothering abilities these are rapidly gaining in popularity throughout the country.
Cheviots.
EasyRam NZ Suffolk Shearling Rams and ram lambs are proving very popular for use on Cheviots particularly in the North and West of Scotland, including the isles. The X bred ewes are really easy lambing and very milky. Their large pelvices make them ideal for low loss outdoor lambing.
Easy Cares.
EasyRam suffolks compliment the low input Easy Care ewe in a low cost management system. They sire either a slaughter lamb that is faster finishing and has a superior carcase than the purebred or give you the alternative of a very attractive tight skinned stores.
Warranty
If any EasyRam Tup dies from natural causes before the end of his second service season after purchase, he will be replaced FOC and no questions asked. So any ram bought in 2021 will be replaced FOC if he dies before 31 Dec 2022 from natural causes. * *This is subject to vaccinations against Clostridial diseases and Pasteurella bein g full up to date.
SELECTED NZ SUFFOLK MATERNAL TRAITS
They are not selected for pretty faces nor are they bred as a by-product of a terminal breed as in the UK. Instead, they are selected for their economic efficiency both in terms of productivity, efficiency, and labour reduction. EasyRam Maternal rams will both transform your profitability and reduce your labour requirements.
NZ Selected Maternal Traits include.
a) Prolificacy. Our pure NZ Suffolks regularly scan at 185% +
b) Bigger Pelvis contributes to 60% of lambing ease. All NZ Suffolk ewes have larger Pelvises than their UK equivalents.
c) Wedge shape. Narrower and shallower at front and deeper and wider at rear. No square blocky UK Suffolk bodies.
d) Upright pelvis, characterised by high dock placement, makes for easier lambing.
e) Vigour of ewe as well as ram breed affects the birthing success or failure. A more vigorous lamb is less likely to be presented incorrectly.NZ Suffolks are exceptionally vigorous.
f) Udder structure, teat placement and mastitis reduction all are improved by careful selection and culling the more prone maternal sire lines.
g) Hard black feet and sound Foot structure make foot trimming redundant and reduce footrot and scald.
h) Wool. NZ farmers do not like unnaturally tight wool that cannot breathe and holds a high amount of suint (lanolin, proteins and urea) which attract flies.
i) Maternal Recording. All our sheep are recorded for maternal traits including prolificacy, lamb survival, Growth and Adult size and all rams carry their own individual Maternal Index from SIL(NZ).
