Ideal Ewes for EasyTexels

Our EasyTexels are being used throughout the UK from John O’ Groats to Land’s End and bring to the UK for the first time the ethos of low input Texels. They are proving particularly popular in the very wet areas along the whole of the western Coast of Scotland Northern England and Wales.

Sensible sized lambs that do not get stuck at the shoulder make them ideal for using on young ewes or ewe lambs or for outdoor lambing under the harshest of conditions.

The lambs are very quick growing and the female daughters being retained out of all breeds are hardy ewes that maintain their BCS.

LLEYNS:

Faster Growing and with better conformation than pure Lleyns means that EasyTexels have rapidly become the crossing breed of choice for this very popular breed. They are ideal for all grass systems and the EasyT exel X daughters are proving very popular.

MULES:

The ideal Texel to go on Mule ewes particularly where females are being retained. Reduced mastitis and improved feet make them a popular alternative for producing Texel X Mule females and good thick birth coats mean a lot less lambs are lost at birth . The ability to finish easily off grass means that you will get your EasyTexel sired lambs away quickly and in spec.

HILL EWES:
INCLUDING WELSH CHEVIOT SWALEDALE and SCOTISH BLACK FACE.

Easy lambing and great survivability in harsh conditions mean that EasyTexels are rapidly establishing themselves throughout all the UK’s upland areas. Their lambs by growing quickly and finishing easily are away from the farm earlier and result in more being sold fat and less as stores.

EASY CARES:

The ideal terminal sire particularly if lambs are sold in the live market. Many breeders are retaining females before breeding back to a woolshedder.

ROMNEYS:

The ideal ram to optimise the hardiness and low labour requirements of the modern NZ type Romney particularly where the flocks are large and low labour input is the number 1 priority
