How do EasyRams compare to UK breeds ?

Even though we have one of the few 100% grass fed flocks in the UK the performance of our Suffolks/Sufftex's lambs compare with the very best of the UK breed in terms of growth rate and meat yield. Our flock average is within the top 25% of the UK Suffolk breed and many individual rams have traits within the top 1% or 5% of the breed. There is as yet no direct comparison between the performance of our Texels and UK Texels as we have a totally unrelated flock with zero linkages.

EASYRAMS SIRE LAMBS THAT FINISH QUICKLY AND EASILY ON A GRASS ONLY DIET, ALTHOUGH THEY CAN ALSO BE USED SUCCESSFULLY IN EARLY LAMBING FLOCKS WHERE CREEP FEED IS USED

WORMS

FEC EBVs are available on our rams. Internal parasites can reduce growth by 25% with no clinical signs of infection. By using rams with negative FEC EBVs lambs will grow quicker; less drenching is required; less worms being shed reduces the challenge to other sheep.

DNA GENE MARKERS

We test our stock sires for the presence of Myomax (extra muscling) Footrot Resistance and Cold Tolerance and are also involved in the early stages of Genomic analysis of our sheep on a national and international basis.
